Favorite trail last year?
That's pretty easy. It would have to be the North Secret to Foreplay trail (now called Comfortably Numb) in Whistler, BC, about 17 miles of tricky single track through beautiful British Columbia forest. It kicked my ass but it was definitely a good time.
Oddest experience on a bike?
Em, that's not so easy. I'm not sure it's an odd experience but a memorable one happened many years ago. One of my first experiences with alcohol ended in a drunken bike ride. I can't remember the details but I still have a scar from the antenna of the parked car I crashed into. Teenage troubles.
First real mountain bike?
A Specialized Stumpjumper. It would have had to been one of the fairly early ones, 1984 or so. A nice bike, I rode it around the hills south of San Francisco and then used it to commute when I moved to the city. It got ripped off, never to be seen again.
One day to ride anywhere?
Context is everything, so I have a fantasy that riding in the Swiss Alps could make for an unforgettable day. Ancient historical trails and stunning views would be what I'd be after. Plus, it would be great to ride around the countryside of my ancestors.
